Island History Tour!
Join the Daniel Island Historical Society on May 18 (10 to 1 pm) to explore Daniel Island’s past on a guided tour! Island author and resident historian Mike Dahlman will be the guide. Board electric vehicles at Church of the Holy Cross on Daniel Island and then head out to explore various sites of historical significance on the island. Outreach’s Golf and Ball
The Golf Tournament will be held on Tuesday, May 21, 2013 - starting at 9 am. The event will be a traditional captain’s choice golf tournament with a shotgun start on Ralston Creek Course, Daniel Island Club. The Ball will be Thursday, May 23, 2013 at Daniel Island Country Club, starting at 6:30 pm. An Evening of Lowcountry-Style Entertainment with Renowned Artist Clay Rice
Come join the Daniel Island Historical Society for a family-friendly celebration of historic proportions as we welcome Clay Rice, a renowned South Carolina musician, storyteller, children’s book author and silhouette artist to Daniel Island on Thursday, June 6! The event will be held from 7 pm to 9 pm (doors open at 6:45 pm) at the Daniel Island Club and is open to the community. Clay’s beautiful and unique silhouettes are part of a family tradition spanning three generations. Described by author Pat Conroy as a “great talent who combines soul and passion,” his pieces are collected worldwide! Tickets for this event are on sale now for $10 each and can be purchased at Island Expressions or SunTrust Bank on Daniel Island, or by contacting Lee Ann Bain at clunybain@gmail.com or (843) 822-5248. After the show, Clay will cut profile silhouettes ($42 each) for those interested and will also sign copies of his books and CDs (cash or check only). This event is co-sponsored by the Daniel Island Community Fund.
Daniel Island Kids’ Fishing Tournament
The Third Annual Daniel Island Kids’ Fishing Tournamaent sponsored by the Daniel Island Inshore Fishing Club and Presented by Scout Boats will be held on Saturday, June 15, Father’s Day Weekend, at Smythe Park Lake. Children ages 5 to 15 of families who reside or work on Daniel Island are eligible to enter as anglers in the tournament. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Prizes in various categories will be award. No fishing license is required. Angler Registration Forms and Tournament Instructions can be found at various locations throughout Daniel Island including Publix, Qwik Pack & Ship, Daniel Island Library, DIPOA, and SunTrust Bank. Pre-registration is requested, $5 per angler; onsite registration at the tournament $8 per angler. Please check in at the Registration Table at Smythe Park 8- 8:30 am on the day of the Tournament to receive your Tournament Kit.
