The Bar Method Charleston - Daniel Island opened in June 2019, but “The Bar Method” workout has been transforming bodies for 20 years. The Bar Method is a low-impact, intense workout that sculpts the entire body – improving flexibility and boosting endurance.
“The Bar Method is the original barre workout and we have stayed true to our roots and our science-based technique,” explained Daniel Island studio owner Molly Dunn. “The Bar Method stands apart because all of our exercises are meticulously designed by physical therapists to transform your body through high-repetition, low-impact strength training. By incorporating elements of Pilates, yoga, and other strength training workouts, The Bar Method will sculpt your entire body, improve your flexibility, and boost your endurance in a way that only barre can.”
Dunn added, “I encourage anyone who is curious about barre or has liked other barre workouts to give us a try! Our classes are fun, challenging and will introduce you to muscles you never knew you had!”
Daniel Island resident Molly Dulmage was a competitive dancer for 20 years. She discovered the benefits of The Bar Method while living in Seattle. Having a Bar Method studio close to home was a big plus for Dulmage when she moved to Daniel Island.
“I actually chose to live on DI because I knew Molly was opening her studio! I wanted to be close to the workout I love!” Dulmage said. “I love that you get what you put into it. I have to stay ‘checked-in’ mentally to keep my form; I can’t allow my mind to wander to whatever I have going on personally or professionally outside of class.
Being physically and mentally present in class gives me a full hour to focus on myself and my well-being! I’ve been doing The Bar Method for nine years and it’s still a physical and mental challenge.”
Smythe Park resident Alesya Macatol loves her time at The Bar Method. “When you walk into the studio, you feel like it was made for you. Light, bright, clean and welcoming. The instructors are easy to talk to and explain how your first class will run. Once you start, your teacher helps you through the entire class. It’s instructional and motivating. No time to think about what you have to pick up at Publix, just time to think about making yourself stronger ... The only things you need to start are socks and a willingness to learn. I feel really lucky to have The Bar Method in our neighborhood. It makes getting to the gym so easy.”
Last month the studio sponsored a free, 45-minute express class outside at Daniel Island’s New Realm Brewing Company. To find out about future events and get information about The Bar Method Charleston - Daniel Island, follow their Facebook and Instagram (@barmethodcharleston) pages.
