NEW FABRICS STORE TO OPEN

Daniel Island will soon have its first fabric store. According to owner Eliseo Ortiz, Daniel Island Fabrics, located at 194-D Seven Farms Drive in the space formerly occupied by Computer Doctor, is expected to open “within the next week or so.” The 500 square foot space will offer fabrics, some furniture items, and indoor and outdoor foam for pillows and cushions. In addition to providing sewing services, they will also work with Upholstery Couture Designs in offering upholstery services to customers.

“We are super excited to be here,” said Ortiz. “We’ll be great for the community!”

The store hopes to have a website up and running soon.

DI GRILLE DONATES SCHOLARSHIPS TO BE STUDENTS

Daniel Island Grille will present two scholarships to one male student and one female student from Bishop England High School for the 2018-2019 school year. The restaurant’s most popular burger has been renamed the “Battling Bishop Burger” and $1.00 from every sale of the burger goes to the Bishop England Scholarship Fund.

Last year, Daniel Island Grille was able to award two $1000 scholarships to one male and one female student.

“The community means a lot to Daniel Island Grille,” said General Manger Chris Perrine. “We want to support the local community and Bishop England High School is an important part of that community.”

Anyone can nominate a student from Bishop England by going to the Daniel Island Grille website. There is a form with details about the student’s graduation date, GPA, sports they have participated in, community involvement and the reason for the student’s nomination. One male and one female student will be chosen in May 2018. The scholarship can be used for textbooks, tuition, school supplies and more.

The Daniel Island Grille opened its doors in 2008 and has since become a popular destination for “high definition sports and great food,” stated a press release issued by the restaurant. It is open Monday through Friday, from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 a.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 12 a.m.
