Daniel Island News staff honored with prestigious writing, design and videography awards

The Daniel Island News editorial and design staff was recently recognized for outstanding writing, design and videography by the South Carolina Press Association at their annual meeting.
Designer and videographer Jan Marvin took top first place honors in the All-Weekly Newspaper Division for Feature Video for her video on the 2015 Health and Fitness Expo. You can view the video at: http://www.thedanielislandnews.com/news/live-better-life-health-and-fitn....
The paper and its writers, editors and designers were also awarded second place in the All-Weekly Newspaper Division for a Sports Section/Special Edition. Writers Jennifer Johnston, Elizabeth Bush, Steve Ferber, and Phil Bowman, designer Jan Marvin, Copy Editor Katherine Smith and Editor Sue Detar captured the award for last year’s special section “Family Circle Cup brings international flair to Daniel Island.”
Elizabeth Bush also one second place for News Feature Writing for her story “Musical gift hits high note for Daniel Island teen” and third place for All weekly Election Coverage of the 2015 City of Charleston mayoral election.
Jan Marvin was also was awarded second place for her Sports Page Design Portfolio, third place for her Feature Page Design Portfolio and honorable mention for single sports page design.
