DI couple makes a new case for staying organized

During pandemic lockdowns, Lowcountry residences have become makeshift offices and classrooms. To navigate this new normal many residents turned to professionals for guidance.  For 17 years the Daniel Island company, A Closet Case, has been helping clients stay organized and reinvent their living spaces.

Daniel Island resident Tanya Murphy and her husband, Dave, purchased A Closet Case last month when the previous owner, Colleen Carlucci retired. Murphy started working for A Closet Case a few years ago as a designer and office manager.

The company, located at 260 Seven Farms Drive # D, works with both commercial and residential clients, and offers more than closets re-dos.

“We are the only showroom on Daniel Island… We can design and install an amazing garage, pantry, office, laundry room, craft center, butler’s pantry or wall bed. Our showroom on Daniel Island is a huge resource for ideas, so feel free to stop in,” said Murphy.

The COVID-19 lockdowns have created opportunities for the company.

“We have never been busier! So many people are working from home now and they are getting organized,” Murphy said. “They are wanting their closets, pantries and garages to function better. They are also in need of home offices and workstations.”
Bernadette Grygielko redid several areas in her home, including her home office.

“My spare closet was transformed into a bar area on one side and business area on the other, with shelves and storage. I would have never thought of this configuration but they asked me my needs and it happened. It is a masterpiece ... I have so much more useful space that I did not realize was possible without their expertise,” she said, adding A Closet Case was very responsive and kept her updated throughout the process. “They have digital plans they send to you and you can make adjustments before finalizing.
They keep you updated on the progress. The workmen knew their business and kept the work area neat and they wore masks.”

A Closet Case prides itself on personal attention and competitive pricing.

“When a customer calls, I am the one that goes out and measures and designs the space,” Murphy said. “As the owner of the company, I have a huge stake in my customer’s satisfaction and it’s my reputation on the line. Because there isn’t a team of commissioned sales people on staff, I don’t have to pass those costs on to my customers.”

Marta Perez worked with A Closet Case to organize her bedroom closet and was impressed with the company’s professionalism and attitude.

“They were extremely patient with me while trying to decide on the perfect color combination,” she said. “Tanya listened to all my closet needs and wants and created a beautiful design. The space was utilized so well, I feel my closet just got larger. I’m extremely happy.”
