DI Dermatology is board certified, customer trusted

Daniel Island Dermatology — the only board certified dermatologists on the island — has been in business since 2002. Dr. Eleanor Sahn, a board certified dermatologist, opened her practice after deciding to relocate both her home and business from downtown Charleston. Sahn was eager to explore Daniel Island’s natural beauty and provide a muchneeded service for the growing area.

“We provide medical, surgical, cosmetic, and pediatric dermatology services. We pride ourselves in being a small, full-service practice where we are passionate about the health and wellness of each and every patient,” Sahn said.

Sahn is extremely proud of the longtime staff. “Our PA, Heather L. Wolf, is certified in pediatric dermatology and has over 15 years of experience working with children and babies. Dr. Rachel Hill is an expert in medical and surgical dermatology — excision of moles and skin cancers — as well as holding advanced certificates in Botox and filler administration. Our nurses and receptionists are caring and dedicated; many have been a part of our team for years.”

DI Dermatology continues to follow COVID-19 safety guidance from the CDC and DHEC.

“Masking of staff and patients, vaccination of staff, social distancing, and enhanced sanitation protocols are a few of the ways that we are ensuring patients a safe visit. We also offer virtual tele-health visits, and have even seen patients in the parking lot who were hesitant to come into the office,” Hill stated.

Since the Lowcountry affords the opportunity to enjoy the outdoors most of the year, the experts recommends always using a sunscreen with an SPF of at least 40-50 and wearing protective clothing. “Ultraviolet radiation does not cease to exist in the non-summer months and is very strong in South Carolina. Remember, if you can see your shadow, you are getting UV radiation. With our mild fall and winter seasons, most of us continue to enjoy the beautiful outdoors year round,” Hill said.

Deirdre McMurtry has been a patient at DI Dermatology for approximately nine years. “Because of all my freckles, I’ve always been on top of my yearly skin cancer screenings. I’ve found their skin screenings to be extremely thorough,” McMurtry said. “I’ve never worried they might have missed anything. I also don’t feel like they’ve ever pushed unnecessary procedures on me, which I appreciate. When I ask for advice, they offer me options without pushing me in any particular direction.”

Megan Harris Mahoney and her family have been patients of Hill’s since relocating to the island. “I have had the pleasure of knowing her since moving here from New York City in 2015. She has taken care of my parents and their respective skin problems, myself and my three children. She has literally dropped everything to come stitch up each of my three kids’ faces when they have fallen. I am so very grateful to have Rachel in my life,” Mahoney said.
