Land use and zoning activities on Daniel Island

These are the issues being brought before the various City of Charleston boards and committees that are specific to land use and zoning on Daniel Island. City of Charleston Technical Review Committee (TRC) — The next meeting will be held on June 14. The agenda is not yet published.  

City of Charleston Board of Zoning Appeals – Site Design (BZA-SD) — The next meeting will be August 1. The agenda is not yet published. 

City of Charleston Board of Zoning Appeals – Zoning (BZA-Z) — At the June 5 meeting, the variance request to allow additions to encroach within the 10-foot setback from the visual buffer zone at 10 Lafar St. was approved. The next meeting will be held on June 19, and on the agenda is the request for a variance from the Daniel Island Master Plan to allow a deck/spa addition with an 8-foot rear setback (20-feet is required).

City of Charleston Design Review Board (DRB) — At the June 4 meeting, the preliminary site plan and construction of the new recreation facility was approved with the comment that staff will do the final review of the landscape plan. The next meeting will be held on June 18 with no issues of impact to Daniel Island on the agenda.

City of Charleston Planning Commission (PC) — The next meeting will be held on June 20 with no issues of impact to Daniel Island on the agenda.
