Meet the Merchants: House of Sage
House of Sage gives locals access to a chic Charleston boutique right on Daniel Island.
The original store opened in the heart of downtown Charleston 10 years ago by husband and wife team, Chris and Erin Abagnale. This past February, the couple decided the timing was perfect to open another store.
“We’ve always been looking for the right opportunity to open our second location in Charleston; Daniel Island seemed like a really great fit for us. My husband Chris and I opened downtown when we were in our mid 20’s and since we’ve grown, so has our family,” explained Erin. “As a new mom sometimes it was a struggle to reconcile my pre-kids wardrobe with my post-kids self. Daniel Island has given us an opportunity to broaden our reach style-wise. Between our two stores we have clothes for every age, body type, and personal style,” she added.
Originally from California, Erin brings her trendsetting sense of style to the Daniel Island store. “House of Sage carries a wide variety of styles. We do get in party dresses and wedding wear, but we focus mainly on your everyday looks. One of my favorite nooks of the store is our workout section. We have great basics, but also yoga pants and tops in fun prints and styles ... no one said working out has to be boring,” exclaimed Erin.
Customer loyalty is important to any store, and House of Sage has a special program to reward repeat clients. “We like saying thank you for shopping with us, so we offer our Punch Card. For every $30 there’s a punch on the card. Ten punches is worth $30 off your next purchase,” said Erin.
House of Sage’s Daniel Island location is a hit with local shoppers. “If I have a last minute event, I can walk right from my home to get a new outfit and still be ready on time. They carry unique pieces of clothing that can be styled from day to night. They carry anything from T-shirts to formal dresses,” said Shawna Pelowski.
Alisa Bee also loves having the trendy boutique close to home. “I loved their downtown store for years but rarely made it downtown. It’s very convenient to have the fashion options right here on the island,” she said.
“There are so many online options, but there is something to be said about getting to walk into a local business and support them. House of Sage is our very own fashion-forward boutique in the heart of Daniel Island,” added Bee.
Daniel Island resident June McCollum appreciates the helpful staff and location. “It’s convenient, I don’t have to drive far to get a last-minute outfit. The friendly service always makes your day,” stated McCollum.
House of Sage, located at 186 Seven Farms Drive, is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sundays from 1 to 5 p.m. More information can be found at online at www.houseofsage.com and on social media.
