Rotary Roundup

The Rotary Club of Daniel Island has had a busy few months, welcoming the new Rotary District Governor, recognizing new club members, hearing from interesting speakers, and presenting a sizeable donation to the Youth Apprenticeship Program at Trident Technical College. Check out the photos on these two pages to learn more about the club’s activities.

Also, on Sept. 26, several Daniel Island Rotarians traveled to Trident Technical College in North Charleston to make an important check presentation. The club contributed $30,000 towards the school’s Youth Apprenticeship Program, an initiative that pairs students with area industry and business partners for on-the-job training.

“This money is incredibly important because it ensures that every student has the ability to participate,” said Melissa Stowasser, assistant vice president of community partnerships for Trident Technical College. “Every penny of this contribution will go to direct support for students’ tuition, books and materials so that they can participate in the program, providing equity…This kind of donation provides upward economic mobility for those who can’t afford to do it. It’s a win-win for everybody.”

“We had our most successful Duck Race ever this past year,” added Scott Varn, president of the Daniel Island Rotary Club. “And we’re in the Rotary to make an impact in the community. All of our members are extremely proud to give back to students in the area.”
