campers take part in “history under the stars!”
It was a picture perfect weekend for the 4th Annual Daniel Island HistoricalSociety’s “History Under the Stars” Family Movie Night & Campout! More than 90 families gathered in the fields beside Daniel Island Children’s Park May 14-15 to take part in this popular event! This year’s festivities included tours of the magnificent Schooner Pride, a model of the type of sailboat that cruised the Charleston Harbor some 300 years ago. The event also featured an outdoor movie showing of “Peter Pan” and a brief talk on our island’s namesake, Captain Robert Daniell, whose plantation home was once located just steps away from our camping grounds! In addition to s’mores roasting, “History Under the Stars” participants also enjoyed a delicious breakfast from Honeycomb Cafe.
