Daniel Island’s Wando River waterfront gets cleaned up as part of statewide Beach Sweep/River Sweep
What do a plastic cup with the logo of a resort in Hope Town, Abaco, Bahamas, a bunch of beer cans, and an old water ski have in common? They were all found during the annual Beach Sweep/River Sweep along the Wando River on Daniel Island last Saturday. The Sweep is South Carolina’s largest one-day volunteer waterway cleanup event. At the event, held every third Saturday in September since 1988, thousands of South Carolinians clear beaches, rivers, lakes, marshes, and swamps of aquatic debris.
