DI HISTORICAL SOCIETY MEETING
The Daniel Island Historical Society will hold a terrific program on Tues., Feb. 18, 7-8 pm, at the Church of the Holy Cross Parish Hall, 299 Seven Farms Drive. Journalist Carolyn Murray and Citadel History Professor Kerry Taylor will discuss the 1969 Charleston Hospital Worker’s Strike. The strike was a dramatic moment in the local unfolding of the Civil Rights Movement. Corretta Scott King was in Charleston to support the strike, and it was one of her first public appearances after the assassination of MLK.
