DIHS TO HOST AUTHOR OF ‘CIGAR FACTORY’
On Tues., Feb. 21, at 7 pm, join the Daniel Island Historical Society for a special presentation by guest speaker Michele Moore. Moore is the author of “The Cigar Factory,” a novel set in storied Charleston at the time when fishermen of the Mosquito Fleet rowed miles offshore for their daily catch and street vendors sold she-crab and porgy. With evocative dialect and remarkable prose, Moore pulls back the curtain on the often overlooked history of working class Charleston in the early 20th century. This event, free and open to the public, will be held at Church of the Holy Cross on Daniel Island. For additional information, visit www.dihistoricalsociety.com.
