DIHS to present program on history of bricks
Brick making was an essential task in Charleston from the city’s earliest days, whether for houses or to construct the wall to protect the infant city from potential Spanish invasion. On Feb. 20, the Daniel Island Historical Society will present “Bricks – Building Charleston’s Past and Present,” featuring guest speaker Southwick “Cary” Briggs. Cary owns a firm that specializes in producing period-correct bricks and he works in consultation with places like Colonial Williamsburg, The American College for the Building Arts, and other institutions. The program will begin at 7 pm at Church of the Holy Cross on Daniel Island. All are welcome. www.dihistoricalsociety.com.
