The Daniel Island Historical Society will explore the amazing history of indigo in a special workshop on Sat., April 22, from 10 – 11:30 am at Church of the Holy Cross on Daniel Island. Indigo is the vibrant blue dye that was first used here in the Lowcountry in the 1700s by a then 17-year old girl named Eliza Lucas Pinckney. Come spend the morning with DIHS to find out more about Charleston’s fascinating indigo story! Attendees will also have the opportunity to work hands-on with this beautiful and rich dye. Light refreshments will be served. Cost is $20 per person. Reservations are required (a minimum of 15 people are needed to hold the program). RSVP to Lee Ann Bain at clunybain@gmail.com.
