Biking (and boating) the lowcountry: Cherny for Congress
Dimitri Cherny, the Democratic candidate running against Mark Sanford for the U.S. First Congressional District, brought his bike and boat campaign tour to Daniel Island last week. The affable, and fit, candidate has logged hundreds of miles on his bike and in the waterways on his boat across the district. Pictured here in the living room of islander Yvonne Michel, Cherny greeted supporters, answering questions and generating enthusiasm. Cherny spoke in support of efforts to stem climate change, to improve Obamacare by creating the best universal health care in the world, and to promote international travel for high school students – creating global citizens – which will produce a “peace dividend.”
According to his campaign platform listed on his website, Cherny also supports anti-government corruption by getting the money out of politics, better K-12 education and debt free college, a “strengthened social security with payments that reflect the cost of living in America today,” and “lifetime support for our military veterans,”
