Could you pass the U.S. Citizenship Test?

Passing the civic portion of the immigrant naturalization test with at least a 60 percent is a requirement for those who seek citizenship in the United States. While more than 97 percent of immigrants who apply pass, a 2012 study conducted by Xavier University found that one in three native-born citizens failed the test. Ironically, a related survey conducted by Xavier University found that nearly 77 percent of Americans believe that all native-born citizens should be able to pass the civics portion.

When applicants take the official citizenship exam, a U.S. Citizen & Immigration Officer can ask them up to 10 of 100 different civics questions. As our nation prepares to celebrate its 241st birthday on July 4, we thought it might be as good a time as any to put our readers to the test!
