Daniel Island Library Programming for September

The following is the upcoming program schedule for September at the Daniel Island Branch of the Berkeley County Library.

CHILDREN’S STORYTIME
Mondays 10:30 & 11 a.m. Come dance to your favorite music and listen to exciting stories.

RECORDER CLASS
NEW TIME. Tuesdays 2-3 p.m., Sept. 9 – Dec. 6. For beginning or “rusty” adults and teens who want to learn to play in a group setting. Prior recorder or other musical experience not required. Reading music is also not a prerequisite.

PAWS FOR READING
NEW DAY & TIME. Saturdays, Sept. 10 – Nov. 1, noon - 1:30 p.m.
This program is designed to help children who are struggling with their reading skills when compared to peers their age by reading to a certified therapy dog. It encourages children to read by providing a non-judgmental listener and furry friend to read to. Session is 20 minutes, by appointment only.

ZEN COLORING
NEW TIME. Thursdays, Sept. 8 – Dec. 15, 1-3 p.m. Relax and enjoy the latest rage, coloring for adults. Color away your problems and feel the positive energy flow as you create your own masterpiece. All supplies provided.

FRIDAY FUN
Sept. 9, 10-12 a.m. Join the fun and make something different. Once a month we will craft something new, decorative, and seasonal while recycling old books. All supplies provided. Please register due to limited space.

TEEN/TWEEN HANGOUT
Sept. 12, 3:30-4:30 p.m. Come celebrate “National Video Game Day.”

GENEALOGY RESEARCH BASICS
Returns Monday Sept. 19, 1-3 p.m. Experts from the Family History Center of Charleston are back again to help you begin or continue collecting ancestral information and researching on the internet.

BACK TO SCHOOL HELP
Here are several programs, led by teaching professionals, that will get you get up to speed with the new teaching methods to help you assist your child with homework.
Homework Apps - Monday, Sept. 26, 4-5 p.m. Get some great apps to help with homework along with internet and phone safety tips.
Reading Strategies - Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2-3 p.m. Learn some simple reading strategies that will help out a struggling reader or boost the skills of any good reader.
Math Strategies - Part 1 – Addition & Subtraction, Wednesday, Sept 28; Part 2 – Multiplication & Fractions, Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2-3. Having trouble with the new math? Get some helpful tips and tricks.
CAST NET FISHING
Saturday, Sept. 24, 9:30-10:30 a.m. The Inshore Fishing Club will be at the library demonstrating and teaching cast net throwing techniques. If you already have a net please bring it along.

DI LIBRARY BOOK CLUB
3rd Tuesday. 10:30-11:30 a.m. Sept. 20 - Nightingale, Kristin Hannah. Oct. 18 - Homegoing, Yaa Gyasi.

DI NEEDLEWORKERS
Alternate Tuesdays (Sept. 13, 27) 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.
