Daniel Island showcased in upcoming episode of HGTV's 'House Hunters'

Daniel Island will shine a little brighter as the star of an upcoming HGTV’s “House Hunters” episode. HGTV has filmed on the island before, however, this is the first time the popular show has followed buyers and their realtor in search of a new home here.

In every episode, the buyer(s) must decide between a few properties, ultimately choosing one at the end of the show.

The upcoming episode will follow Daniel Island resident and cofounder of Coastal Luxury Homes Rachel Urso, and her client, Delta pilot and instructor Sherri Ginger. The two met last year at the Daniel Island nail salon Posh and quickly bonded over manicures and champagne.

Urso is about to film a pilot for her own show called “Home Sweet SOLD” and took the opportunity to HGTV and other interested networks. The network was familiar with the energetic Urso, who successfully produced and hosted her own show with Scripps, HGTV’s parent network. Urso has done projects on a national level, but now she’s focused on projects closer to home.

“My love of home design, deep water, equestrian centers, good Southern food, wine, and shopping is all here in Charleston,” she said. “My whole social scene and business have honed into Charleston.”

Urso calls the upcoming show “a powerful and inspirational episode.” Urso combined her knowledge of finance, marketing, and house flipping to give the episode a special twist focusing on two strong independent women. After interviewing the two friends, HGTV felt they were a perfect fit for Daniel Island’s House Hunters debut.

“I think this episode will inspire women to support other women. I hope it pushes viewers to confidently set higher goals for themselves,” Urso said.

Ginger is also no stranger to Daniel Island. She purchased her first home in the community in 2009, when she was based out of Charleston, flying C-17s for the Air Force. Later, she rented out her Daniel Island property, but always longed to return.

“It’s a dream come true calling Daniel Island home again,” Ginger exclaimed.

The days were long, but, according to Urso, the House Hunters’ crew enjoyed the serenity of the island, coastal-style construction, and the laid back vibe.

“I think filming in golf carts was their favorite part of our many 10 to 12 hour days together,” Urso said.

Ginger also enjoyed her overall experience.

“It was exciting and exhausting at times, but most importantly it opened my eyes to the fact that we Daniel Islanders are so blessed to live here on this beautiful island. Rachel is an amazing realtor. She listens and she delivers,” said Ginger. “I am ecstatic with my choice…I feel like I’m in a dream.”

Both Urso and Ginger need to keep the final decision under wraps until the show airs later this year.

“The publicist side of me is dying to share our fun behind the scenes images socially, but we aren’t allowed to give too much information before the show airs,” Urso revealed.

Urso will post air dates for the upcoming episode and information on her new show, Home Sweet SOLD, on Instagram. To stay in the loop, follow @coastal.luxury.homes and @rachel.urso.
