FIFTEEN YEARS AGO

Core training was reported to be the new fitness craze in the December 4, 2003 issue of The Daniel Island News. Also featured in that issue were holiday decorating tips ranging from decorating the tree and the dining room table to unique ideas for wrapping gifts. The edition also showcased art murals created by our very own Daniel Island News Sales Director Ronda Schilling.

TEN YEARS AGO

In the December 4, 2008 issue of The Daniel Island News, an article featured the Daniel Island School and its efforts to help families in need during the holiday season with a toy drive. Also, the Daniel Island Garden Club announced they would soon be judging the Holiday House Decorating Contest for Best Overall Yard (Decorations and Lights), Best Front Door Decoration, and Best Children’s Theme.

In sports, an article spotlighted injuries from tackle football and some parents’ concerns that weight requirements should be increased for the game.

FIVE YEARS AGO

An article about The Joy Project was the main feature in the December 5, 2013 issue of The Daniel Island News. The new Daniel Island-based initiative was all about “saying yes” to living in a positive way and spotlighting those who were choosing not to let negativity rule the day.

Also in the news were tips on Christmas tree safety, such as placing your tree away from fireplaces, radiators, television sets, and other heat sources; always making sure that your tree has plenty of water to prevent drying; and ALWAYS turning off all decorations before going to bed at night or anytime that you leave home.
