FIFTEEN YEARS AGO

The June 30, 2005, edition had a Fourth of July theme. The centerspread had several articles about area firework shows, tips for keeping pets safe and the art of collecting vintage fireworks. Plus, there was information about the S.C. Department of Natural Resources being out in force patrolling the waterways for the holiday weekend, traditionally the busiest boating time of the year in South Carolina.
 
Also in the news, Benefitfocus announced its new world headquarters office to be located on Daniel Island.
 
TEN YEARS AGO

The cover of the July 1, 2010, edition included an article about an innovative and engaging camp for YES Carolina (Youth Entrepreneurship South Carolina), a program that helps young people build skills and unlock their entrepreneurial creativity.

The centerspread featured all the Fourth of July activities that would be taking place on the island. 

There was a spread of pictures from the Abby’s Friends Golf Outing and Gala, which benefits the research of and juvenile diabetes.

FIVE YEARS AGO

The centerspread of the July 2, 2015, edition featured all the Fourth of July activities that would be taking place on the island.

There was also an article about the banners that hung around town to honor veterans, living or deceased, as well as active duty military.

In other news, a front porch concert idea was gaining momentum that started with a Daniel Island Moms Facebook post looking for interest in musically talented households to host impromptu “concerts” on their front porches.
