TEN YEARS AGO - ISLANDERS RUN THEIR BUSINESSES FROM THEIR HOMES

In the March 15, 2007 edition of the paper our centerfold featured residents who work and run their businesses from their home. Featured businesses/islanders included: Educational Avenues, owned by Chip and Claire Law; artist Marina Cantlon; and interior designer Cici Moss. All three still maintain their businesses on the island!

In other news, Judy Jackson, a pioneering island leader, announced she was running for Berkeley County Council. A Daniel Island resident since 1997, Jackson ran as a Republican candidate for the District 2 seat on the Council. She was set to compete against fellow Republicans Tim Callanan, also of Daniel Island, Joel Hodges, Richard W. Smith and Paul Welborn in the April 17 primary. James Holliday was the lone Democratic primary candidate. Callanan would go on to win the seat. In business news, White - a boutique specializing in bridal gowns, special occasion dresses and personalized attention - officially opened its doors for business.
