TEN YEARS AGO - TROUBLED WATERS
In the March 22, 2007 edition of the paper we reported a multi-article series titled “Troubled Waters,” which highlighted challenges to the fishing industries. Our centerfold featured how the local shrimp industry struggled against farm-raised Asian stock. Additionally, we also reported that the migrating fish levels in the Lowcountry were on the decline.
In other news, a rare Sandhill Crane visited a Daniel Island Park home. Sandhill Cranes are common in Florida but, due to development, the cranes are appearing in South Carolina, we reported.
FIVE YEARS AGO - DI RENTAL PROPERTY TARGETED IN CRAIGSLIST SCAM
In the March 22, 2012 edition of the paper we reported that a scam artist stole photos of a Daniel Island home from the MLS and listed the property for rent on Craigslist as if they were the owner of the property.
Our centerfold headline was “Lack of DI rec space creates challenges.” We reported that limited access to fields and a gym meant that many teams just didn’t have practice space.
Our cover featured “Pi for all” – a funny photo of mixing pie with pi!
In sports, A.J. Fitzsimmons took first place in the Bishop England 5K.
