September 21, 2006: 
 
The cover and centerfold featured “ChazzFest.” It was the inaugural Charleston Music and Heritage Festival at Family Circle Tennis Center. The event featured a variety of music — from the smooth jazz of K3: The Karl Denson Trio, rock performances by the Drive-By Truckers and Leslie, to the beach music sounds of The Catalinas and The Drifters.
 
In other news, Col. Kevin Knecht, of the 17th Airlift Squadron of Charleston Air Force Base, presented the Daniel Island School kindergarten classes with American flags to hang in their classrooms. Knecht flew these flags over Baghdad, Iraq, as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom.
 
September 22, 2011: 
 
Photos and descriptions of the poisonous snakes on Daniel Island were featured on the cover and the centerpiece. Also, there was a story about Daniel Island resident Jacob Hartley, who spent three days at MUSC Children’s Hospital recovering from a rattlesnake bite he received near his home.
 
In presidential election news, Republican candidate Herman Cain received a number of standing ovations while speaking at a presidential town hall meeting held at the Daniel Island School.
 
September 22, 2016: 
 
The cover and centerfold featured the second part of a series addressing teens and substance abuse. Local law enforcement officers — including then resident agent in charge of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) in Charleston, Jason Sandoval — discussed how heroin and opioid use had reached epidemic levels. Sandoval helped launch the campaign, aptly titled #WakeUp, to get the word out to parents about the dangers of these drugs among teens in the community.
 
Dr. Viktoriya Magid, PhD, also answered questions to provide insights and information about the treatment side of substance abuse.
