TEN YEARS AGO - AFFORDABLE HOUSING INITIATIVES IN FULL SWING ON DANIEL ISLAND
In the September 7, 2006 edition of the paper the top stories revolved around the affordable housing options and progress on the island: the 72-unit Seven Farms Apartment were under construction and were geared toward families making up to 50% of the median income and the Parkside Condominiums and Blakeway Street Apartments. The condominium (ownership) were geared to families making 100% to 150% of the area’s median family income and the apartments to individuals or families making no less than 80% to no more than 150% of the area’s median income. Additionally, we reported that the Daniel Island Business Association launched an “information drive” to publicize affordable housing opportunities for island employees.
