First Annual Row Raiser for the Special Olympics
The first annual Row Raiser to benefit the Special Olympics event rolled through a thunderstorm to a resounding success. The event was held on Sunday, January 22 at Crossfit Discovery on Daniel Island.
Event director Amy Gege says she was thrilled with the larger than expected turnout.
“We raised just over $7,500,” she says. “And donations are still rolling in. Plans for a second annual (event) have already begun!”
Gege reported that 108 participants, including 10 special needs individuals, rowed a total of 345,646 meters (215 miles) over the two hour period.
The Gold Medal Team Champions were “Crossfit Discovery Downtown,” silver medal went to “Carolina Fitness Equipment,” and bronze medals were awarded to “That’s How 1 Tweezie Rows.”
Contributions to the SC Special Olympics are still being accepted. Please contact Amy Gege at the SC Special Olympics: amygege@so-sc.org to make a donation.
