Good Eats: Ali Baba serves delicious Greek and Mediterranean dishes

Ali Baba Deli & Catering boasts a menu featuring traditional Greek and Mediterranean dishes, such as chicken or beef shawarma, lamb kebobs, gyros and stuffed grape leaves, and uses the freshest ingredients to artfully craft dishes that are healthy and delicious.

Owners Samir and Yasmeen Elzabidi opened the deli and catering company on January 1, 2009. Now in business for over 10 years, Samir Elzabidi said that their most ordered items are their gyros, kabobs, Panini wraps and shawarma.

“We do our best to accommodate our customers,” said Elzabidi. “We have vegan, gluten free food including GF pita, and some diary free.”

Their deli case and menu offers over 45 items, including a variety of vegetables, meats, salads, hummus selections and delicious desserts, including Baklava. And, during the winter season, they serve soup, including a Greek lemon chicken soup. And, they will be adding in a Turkish menu, including kebobs, next month.

The restaurant expanded in 2016 to allow for additional dining room and kitchen space, including an oven for their specialty “fatayer” pizzas served on fresh Turkish boat-shaped dough.

You can stop in the restaurant and deli daily for lunch and dinner or you can order take-out for pick-up or delivery. They now offer delivery through DoorDash, Uber Eats and Grubhub. You can order online or by phone.

“We see a nice crowd of customers every day,” Elzabidi said.

Ali Baba also offers offsite and in-house catering.

They are conveniently located on Daniel Island, at 186 Seven Farms Drive (Suite 500), across from the Volvo Car Tennis Stadium. Operating hours are: Monday – Friday: 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., Saturdays and Sundays, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
