From Gospel to Gershwin...DIHS program delights audience!

When members and guests of the Daniel Island Historical Society learned the topic for the organization’s seasonal kick off program on Sept.19, it was surely music to their ears! The DIHS event featured a sampling of the “Sound of Charleston,” the popular, acclaimed show presented weekly at the Circular Church in downtown Charleston. Guests gathered at Church of the Holy Cross on Daniel Island as Sound of Charleston host/performer Bill Schlitt and his fellow musicians, Maida Libkin and Ghadi Shayban, entertained the crowd with spirited selections from the show, which is now in its eighth season. The program was interspersed with the history surrounding Charleston’s different musical eras - from Colonial times to the 20th century.
