History Under the Stars Family Movie Night & Campout!

Roaring camp fires, s’mores, storytelling, stargazing, tours of the Schooner Pride, a movie on the big screen, fellowship with your neighbors, a delicious breakfast served up by Honeycomb Cafe, and, oh yes….a little history lesson on our island’s namesake, Gov. Robert Daniell, whose plantation was once located next to our campground! In fact, it’s the 300th Anniversary of his governorship of the Carolinas!
Don’t miss the Daniel Island Historical Society’s 4th Annual “History Under the Stars Family Movie Night & Campout,” a family-friendly island event to be held Saturday through Sunday, May 14-15, in the fields beside Daniel Island Children’s Park! Camp set-up begins at 8 a.m. on May 14. Bring your own dinner, or purchase from our on-site local food truck. An outdoor movie will start at 7:30 p.m. In honor of Governor Daniell, there will also be prizes awarded for the most historically accurate tents reflecting the Colonial era. Registration is $35 per family. Fee includes s’mores, movie, Schooner Pride tours, history program and breakfast. Please provide your own tent and recreational supplies. Registration deadline is May 11. To register, or for more information, visit http://dihistoricalsociety.com/history-under-the-stars/. Co-sponsored by the Daniel Island Community Fund.
