Land use and zoning activities on Daniel Island

These are the issues being brought before the various City of Charleston boards and committees that are specific to land use and zoning on Daniel Island. City of Charleston Technical Review Committee (TRC) — At the most recent meeting on April 5, the site plan for St. Clare of Assisi Catholic Church was discussed. Developers for that project were advised to revise and resubmit plans to TRC (construction activity application, CSWPPP, SCDHEC NOI, SDSM submittal checklist, and stormwater technical report are required). On the agenda for this week’s meeting on April 12 is the road construction plan for the roundabout at Seven Farms Drive and Daniel Island Drive.

City of Charleston Board of Zoning Appeals – Site Design (BZA-SD) — The next meeting will be held on May 2. The agenda is not yet published.

City of Charleston Board of Zoning Appeals – Zoning (BZA-Z) — The next meeting will be held on April 17. The agenda is not yet published.

City of Charleston Design Review Board (DRB) — At the April 2 meeting, the board deferred with comments the preliminary approval for the construction of a new commercial building at 186 Seven Farms Drive to restudy the use of Lantana and Switch Grass, the screening mechanics of the roof, the depth of the columns/pilasters and how they terminate at the soffit, and the depth of coping. The next meeting will be held on April 16 with no issues of impact to Daniel Island on the agenda.

City of Charleston Planning Commission (PC) — The next meeting will be held on April 18. The agenda is not yet published.
