Land use and zoning activities on Daniel Island

These are the issues being brought before the various City of Charleston boards and committees that are specific to land use and zoning on Daniel Island. All meetings are open for public comment except the TRC meetings. For more information on any of these proposed actions, including location and time of meetings, please email president@ dineighborhoodassociation.org.

City of Charleston Technical Review Committee (TRC) — At the most recent meeting on April 25, minor comments were given on the construction of the new Daniel Island Club tennis court facility. It needs to be revised and resubmitted, and once approved in-house, it will be sent to Zoning for stamping. The next meeting will be held on May 2, and the preliminary plat, road construction, and site plan for a new apartment development on Robert Daniel Drive will be discussed.

City of Charleston Board of Zoning Appeals – Site Design (BZA-SD) — At the most recent meeting on May 1, the request for a variance to allow the removal of one grand tree at 145 Captains Island Drive was discussed.

City of Charleston Board of Zoning Appeals – Zoning (BZA-Z) — The next meeting will be held on May 7. The agenda is not yet published.

City of Charleston Design Review Board (DRB) — At the next meeting on May 6, the request for conceptual approval of a new Fairchild Marriott hotel will be discussed.

City of Charleston Planning Commission (PC) — The next meeting will be held on May 15. The agenda is not yet published.
