Land use and zoning activities on Daniel Island

These are the issues being brought before the various City of Charleston boards and committees that are specific to land use and zoning on Daniel Island. City of Charleston Technical Review Committee (TRC) — At the September 20 meeting, minor comments were given regarding the construction plans and associated improvements for Daniel Island Park #4. After in-house approval, it will go to Zoning for stamping. The next meeting will be held on September 27 with no issues of impact to Daniel Island on the agenda.

City of Charleston Board of Zoning Appeals – Site Design (BZA-SD) — The next meeting will be October 3 with no issues of impact to Daniel Island on the agenda.

City of Charleston Board of Zoning Appeals – Zoning (BZA-Z) — The next meeting will be held on October 2. On the agenda is the request for a variance from the Daniel Island Master Plan to allow a section of rear stairs to encroach within the required 10-foot setback from the Visual Buffer Zone at 1938 Bellona Street.

City of Charleston Design Review Board (DRB) — The next meeting will be held on October 1 with no issues of impact to Daniel Island on the agenda.

City of Charleston Planning Commission (PC) — At the most recent meeting on September 20, the Daniel Island Town Association requested the approval of two street name changes: “Dark Star Lane” to “Lime Lane” and “Native Dancer Lane” to “Harborside Lane.” The results are not yet available. The next meeting will be held on October 17; the agenda is not yet published.
