Developers of the site plan for Governor’s Cay – The Point were also asked to revise and resubmit to TRC. At the next meeting on Oct. 3, the site plan for Daniel Island Self Storage will be discussed.

City of Charleston Board of Zoning Appeals – Site Design (BZA-SD) — At the most recent meeting on Oct. 2, the agenda included a request for a variance to allow a reduced landscape buffer on Fairchild Street, a request for a variance to allow the removal of one grand tree at 237 Black Powder Lane, a request for a variance to allow the removal of one grand tree at 106 Nobels Point, a request for a variance to allow the removal of 4 grand trees at 1185 Pinefield Drive, and a request to allow a one-year extension for the removal of one grand tree at 1124 Oak Overhang. City of Charleston Board of Zoning Appeals – Zoning (BZA-Z) — The most recent meeting was held on Oct. 1 with no issues of impact to Daniel Island/Cainhoy area on the agenda.

City of Charleston Design Review Board (DRB) — At the most recent meeting on Sept. 23, the request for the construction of a new music performance venue and retail space at 890 Island Park Drive was given preliminary approval with board comments to consider building lighting to correspond with the function of the building drama and interesting exterior, to provide additional detail on the termination of the rain screen, to provide pavers at the parking spaces at the NW side of building, to study the landscape that will be planted in front of the building name so not to block it, and to use mixed vines at the screen wall on the north elevation. The request for construction of a new two-story commercial building at 873-877 Island Park Drive was given conceptual approval with board comments to restudy the signage location and possibly incorporate into the horizontal canopies, to restudy the awning placement (currently too high), to confirm the number and size of downspouts regarding code, to restudy the color scheme to lighten the building, to restudy the pavers and planter on the west façade so that it reacts to and integrates with the building, and to provide building lighting design and details. The next meeting will be held on Oct. 7 with no issues of impact to Daniel Island/Cainhoy on the agenda.

City of Charleston Planning Commission (PC) — The next meeting will be held on Oct. 16; the agenda is not yet published.
