Land use and zoning activities on Daniel Island

These are the issues being brought before the various City of Charleston boards and committees that are specific to land use and zoning on Daniel Island. All meetings are open for public comment except the TRC meetings. For more information on any of these proposed actions, including location and time of meetings, please email president@dineighborhoodassociation.org.

City of Charleston Technical Review Committee (TRC) — At the most recent meeting on October 10, the site plan for construction of a new DR Horton office in Cainhoy at 2057 Wambaw Creek Road was asked to be revised and resubmitted to TRC; the parking improvements site plan at 146 Fairchild was asked to be revised and resubmitted to TRC; and the construction plans for St. Clare of Assisi Catholic Church were asked to be revised and resubmitted to TRC. At the next meeting on October 17, the site plans for two commercial buildings — “Daniel Island Town Center” on Island Park Drive and a new two-story commercial building at 890 Island Park Drive — will be discussed.

City of Charleston Board of Zoning Appeals – Site Design (BZA-SD) — The next meeting will be held on November 6; the agenda is not yet published.

City of Charleston Board of Zoning Appeals – Zoning (BZA-Z) — The most recent meeting was held on October 15 with no issues of impact to Daniel Island or Cainhoy discussed.

City of Charleston Design Review Board (DRB) — At the next meeting on October 21, the request for preliminary approval for the construction of a two-story commercial building at 873-877 Island Park Drive will be discussed.

City of Charleston Planning Commission (PC) — The most recent meeting was held on October 16; no issues of impact to Daniel Island or Cainhoy were discussed.
