Land use and zoning activities on Daniel Island

These are the issues being brought before the various City of Charleston boards and committees that are specific to land use and zoning on Daniel Island. All meetings are open for public comment except the TRC meetings. For more information on any of these proposed actions, including location and time of meetings, please email president@dineighborhoodassociation.org.

City of Charleston Technical Review Committee (TRC): At the Nov. 14 meeting, the site plan for 201 Wambaw Creek was asked to be revised and resubmitted to TRC, and the site plan for two commercial buildings at Daniel Island Town Center was asked to be revised and, once approved, submitted for stamping. At the next meeting on Nov. 21 at 9 a.m., the construction plans for a multi-family development (Hawthorne) on Clements Ferry and the construction plans for the mixed-use development at Parkline Avenue on Daniel Island will be discussed.

City of Charleston Board of Zoning Appeals – Site Design (BZA-SD): The next meeting will be held on Dec. 4; the agenda is not yet published.

City of Charleston Board of Zoning Appeals – Zoning (BZA-Z): The most recent meeting was held on Nov. 19 with no issues of impact to Daniel Island or Cainhoy discussed.

City of Charleston Design Review Board (DRB): At the most recent meeting on Nov. 18, the request for preliminary approval for the construction of a new church to replace the existing church at 2810 Clements Ferry Road was discussed.

City of Charleston Planning Commission (PC): At the meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 20, the request for approval of the subdivision concept plan at Northern Parcel FF on Daniel Island and the request for approval of an ordinance providing for an amendment to the Daniel Island Master Plan zoning text were scheduled to be discussed. Look for an update on these items in next week’s paper.
