Land use and zoning activities on Daniel Island

These are the issues being brought before the various City of Charleston boards and committees that are specific to land use and zoning on Daniel Island and the Cainhoy peninsula. All meetings are open for public comment except the TRC meetings. For more information on any of these proposed actions, including location and time of meetings, please email DanielIslandNeighborhood@gmail.com.

City of Charleston Technical Review Committee (TRC): The next meeting will be held on March 12 with one issue relating to Daniel Island to be discussed: The committee will review site and construction plans for the 6.3 acre site for Saint Clare of Assisi Catholic Church, located at Seven Farms Drive. At the March 5 meeting, the committee reviewed construction plans for a new hotel and proposed right-of-way adjustment for the 113-room Daniel Island Courtyard Marriott at 56 Fairchild Street and asked for revisions.

City of Charleston Board of Zoning Appeals – Site Design (BZA-SD): The next meeting will be held on April 1. An agenda has not been published.

City of Charleston Board of Zoning Appeals – Zoning (BZA-Z): The next meeting will be held on March 17 with no issues of impact scheduled for Daniel Island or Cainhoy.

City of Charleston Design Review Board (DRB): The next meeting will be held on March 16 with no issues of impact scheduled for Daniel Island or Cainhoy.

City of Charleston Planning Commission (PC): The next meeting will be held March 18. No specific issues related to Daniel Island or Cainhoy are on the agenda but the commission will review the Century V Plan to inform the 2020 comprehensive plan update.
