Local author to speak at free reception at DI Club
Angela Williams’ first novel, Hush Now, Baby, continues to engage and inspire readers. Her story of an uneasy childhood in the segregated South caught the attention of acclaimed author Pat Conroy, before his recent death. In a review printed in the book, Conroy describes Williams’ “beautifully crafted prose and deft narrative skill” in creating a tribute to the “remarkable woman whose love and strength shaped her entire life.” Williams, a Berkeley County native, writes of her family’s nanny and caregiver Eva, an African American woman who essentially raised her and became a central figure in Williams’ life from the time of her birth to her wedding day.
Williams will serve as the guest speaker at a complimentary program at the Daniel Island Club on Wednesday, April 20, beginning with a reception at 6:00 p.m. A presentation and question and answer session about the book will follow at 6:30 p.m. Space is limited to 100 people.
