Mystery Photo Contest

In honor of the 15th anniversary of The Daniel Island News, we are bringing back a former favorite feature – the Mystery Photo Contest! Each week, we will print a photo of a scene or object found on Daniel Island. Guess what is depicted in the picture and send your response to mysterypic@thedanielislandnews.com by noon on Saturday. A winner will be chosen randomly from those who answer correctly and announced in the following week’s issue. Daniel Island resident Emma Pawlucy, a fourth grade student at Daniel Island School, was one of several readers who guessed correctly in last week’s Mystery Photo Contest and was declared the winner in a random tie-breaker. Emma identified the photo as the boat at Children’s Park on Daniel Island. “We ride our bikes to the dock there and they play at the park quite a bit,” noted Emma’s dad, Bill Pawlucy. “So, she immediately recognized it with her eagle eyes. She has played on that ship with her sister Eloise and was the captain barking orders.” According to Bill, Emma loves to play with her sister, Eloise, and is a part of the Daniel Island Soccer Academy. In her free time, she likes hanging out with her friends on the island. She is also an avid reader! We asked Emma how she feels about being the first winner of the relaunched Mystery Photo Contest. “She is thrilled to be the first winner!” said Bill, who describes Emma as a “ball of energy.” “She was jumping for joy.” Send your answer to mysterypic@thedanielislandnews.com by noon on Saturday, Nov. 10. The winner will receive a Daniel Island News baseball hat!
