New DI summer concert series to kick off April 28

On Friday, April 28, the Daniel Island Property Owners Association will debut a new concert series for Daniel Island residents and their guests at Townsend Park in the Edgefield Park neighborhood. The 2017 “Sounds of Summer” kickoff concert, to be held from 6 to 9 p.m., will feature Ben Fagan & The Holy City Hooligans.

Townsend Park, one of Daniel Island’s newest neighborhood parks, is also referred to as “Swing Park” and is surrounded by the following streets - Townsend, Willtown, Gatewood and Augustus Streets. Bring your lawn chair, beverage of choice and your appetite and kick back and enjoy the great sounds of some wonderful outdoor music. There will be affordable food options available for purchase with several food trucks and food cart vendors at the park, also offering water and nonalcoholic beverages. For the kids, there will be face painting and balloons as well as all that the park has to offer.

Those who live around or near the park are welcome to join the festivities or host your own “Porch Party” and enjoy the concert from the comfort of your porch/home with friends and neighbors. These free outdoor concerts will be held on the following Fridays: April 28, June 9, and July 28. Each concert will take place at a different neighborhood park.
