TRC REVIEWS PLANS FOR FIRST MAJOR SUBDIVISION IN CAINHOY PLANTATION DEVELOPMENT

At a June 13 City of Charleston Technical Review Committee (TRC) meeting, plans for the first major subdivision to be located within the Cainhoy Plantation development were discussed. Listed on the agenda as “Cainhoy South Hopewell Residential,” the 185 lot subdivision is expected to be 114.5 acres large in the rural Cainhoy area. The applicant is Thomas & Hutton Engineering Company and the project’s owner is Cainhoy Lumber & Timber, LLC. At last week’s TRC meeting, committee members asked that the plan be revised and resubmitted.

The subdivision concept plan is expected to go in front of the City of Charleston Planning Commission on Wednesday, June 19. According to Carolyn Lancaster, vice president of marketing for DI Development Company, the entity managing development of the project, sales for the first phase of the new community are expected to begin in 2020.

CITY OF CHARLESTON DEBUTS NEW WEBSITE

As part of its ongoing transparency initiative, the City of Charleston recently launched a newly designed and significantly more accessible website. The site can be viewed at www.charleston-sc.gov, and with a mobile-friendly design, it is now more useful for citizens using tablets, smartphones and other electronic devices.

“With the launch of the redesigned, mobile-friendly website…we are continuing our commitment to communicate more effectively with our citizens,” stated Mayor John Tecklenburg in a press release. “The new website, new Citizen Services Desk, new city app and more new technologies on the way also provide citizens more efficient and responsive access to city services and representatives.”

City Chief Information Officer Wes Ratterree added, “With any redesign and reorganization of this scope, there are always ongoing edits and improvements, so we encourage citizens to reach out to the Citizen Services Desk at 843-724-7311 or citizenservices@charleston-sc.gov with any comments or concerns.”
