Next speaker series presenters are Brad and Jenny Moranz
On Wednesday, September 14, Brad and Jennifer Moranz, will talk about their journey from the bright lights of Broadway to Charleston.
Brad and Jenny are perhaps best well known for “The Charleston Christmas Special” which runs at the Charleston Music Hall every holiday season. Brad and Jenny produce, direct, cast, and choreograph three musical reviews a year – a retro rock ‘n roll show in March, a variety show in July, and The Christmas Special.
They are two very talented performers. Both have spent almost their entire lives in the theatre. Jenny grew up in a tiny town in North Carolina and eventually found her way to NYC. She spent four years as one of the high-kicking Radio City Rockettes, but she always wanted to be a Broadway dancer. In the mid-80’s she danced in the original Broadway production of “42nd Street”. A couple of years later she was a featured dancer in “Singin’ in the Rain”.
Meanwhile, Brad grew up in Texas and was classmates with actors Randy and Dennis Quaid. He studied acting, ballet, and wrote songs. Eventually he joined the touring company of “A Chorus Line”. Then he was cast as the nerdy Seymour in “Little Shop of Horrors”. When he joined the production of “Singin’ in the Rain” he met Jenny.
According to Brad “She was a chorus girl who laughed at my jokes. We fell in love in that show and have been inseparable ever since.”
Brad and Jenny will speak on Wednesday evening, September 14. The event is at the Daniel Island Club, in the ballroom. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.; the program starts at 7 p.m., and will conclude around 8:00 pm. Business casual attire is appropriate.
