SHARPEN YOUR KNIVES FOR $1 TO FEED CHARLESTON FAMILIES FOR THANKSGIVING

Head over to The Coastal Cupboard in Mount Pleasant’s Belle Hall Shopping Center for the Semi-Annual Charity Knife Sharpening Event November 3-6, 2016 (during regular store hours). The fall event will benefit The Charleston Basket Brigade, a local nonprofit on a mission to feed 3,500 Charleston area families in need for Thanksgiving. Get your knives professionally sharpened for just $1 per knife and every dollar goes towards The Coastal Cupboard’s $5,000 goal, which will feed 167 families for Thanksgiving.

In addition to putting a new edge on your knives, guests can whet their inner foodie appetite with delicious samples, knife specials, and holiday goods. Wusthof Knife pros will be hosting knife skills lessons Friday-Sunday. Guests can get creative tasting Robert Rothschild Farm sauces at a grilled cheese bar on Friday and Saturday. Warm up to free peppermint mocha lattes from JURA, and sample delicious seasonal recipes hot off of the Traeger Pellet Grills.

The Charleston Basket Brigade is rallying the community to help raise $105,000 in order to feed 3,500 families (approximately 28,000 people) in the Charleston Tri-County area.

It only takes $30 to feed a family of six and every penny donated is utilized to purchase food. Each family receives a box of food to cook an entire Thanksgiving meal including a 10-12 lb. turkey, cranberry sauce, stuffing, mashed potatoes, corn, green beans, sweet potatoes with marshmallows, fresh rolls, and a pumpkin pie. Inside the box is an anonymous letter that reads, “This comes to you from someone who cares about you. All we ask is that you take care of yourself well enough to be able to do this for someone else one day.”

The 9th Annual Charleston Basket Brigade will take place on Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at the Charleston Area Convention Center Exhibit Hall C. Here the community is invited to help assemble meals and pick up meals to deliver to the benefitting families.
