Pink-ify DI!
The Komen Lowcountry Race for the Cure and The Daniel Island News are teaming up to sponsor a new decorating contest for Breast Cancer Awareness Month and in advance of the Race for the Cure, which will be held on Daniel Island on October 15.
Island businesses and residents are invited to decorate their places to support both the runners and survivors. In addition to providing support and encouragement, the top judged home and business will win prizes.
It’s been several years since businesses were last encouraged to decorate. For past races, some island businesses have supported the race with amazing decorations. After several years of not having a decorating contest, the Komen Lowcountry affiliate has re-initiated a decorating theme – this time specific to Daniel Island
From October 1 through October 12, Daniel Island businesses and homeowners are encouraged to decorate their place in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month and the upcoming Komen Lowcountry Race for the Cure. Those who wish to enter the contest should submit two pictures to race@komenlowcountry.org no later than 5 p.m. on October 12. Photos will also be placed on the local Komen Facebook page. Use the phrase “Pink-ify DI” in your subject line.
Judges will be looking for: “Wow Factor, Inspirational Power, and Visual Appeal.” Be creative – use paint, tennis balls, tennis shoes, or any medium that conveys a message of support.
The judging will take place after 5 p.m. on October 12. The winners will be announced onstage on race day, October 15.
The business winner will be presented with a plaque to hang in their business and the winning homeowners will win a meal from Laura Alberts!
