POA offers activities for all ages
One thing is for sure on Daniel Island …you can always find an activity to get involved in no matter how old you are. While the Daniel Island Property Association often partners with the City of Charleston Recreation Department by promoting their island activities, there are some programs they offer all on their own. Dani Hermann, Recreation Coordinator for the POA, works year round planning and coordinating events and programs for both the young and old on the island.
“We like to come up with activities and programs we think residents will enjoy. We always like to encourage residents to let us know if they see something in another community or have any ideas of programs and activities that they would like to see happen here on DI,” says Hermann. If you haven’t looked at the POA website in a while, it may be worth your time to take a quick look. Go to www.dicommunity.org for more information. Here is a run-down of ongoing and upcoming offerings:
Little Explorers Club
Little Explorers Club is offered between three and five times per year and is bound to excite and ignite the imagination of your little one. Past programming has included animals, art, and music. They are all some sort of learning experience and include games, crafts, and snacks. The Little Explorers Club will be meeting Tuesday, December 15 at 4 p.m. at the Pierce Park Pavilion. Your child will be exposed to over 10 instruments and have a chance to experience everything from flute to piano, drums to guitar, mandolin to trumpet. This is an experience meant to introduce the instrument families and basic musical theory and notation. To add to the holiday excitement, we will also have a craft and a special treat for your child. No experience is required. Students must be at least 5 years old. It’s only $7 to participate in this club meeting. Little Explorers is a rain or shine event, registration is non-refundable.
