Storms bring down trees on DI
A cluster of severe thunderstorms packing gusty winds and powerful lightning downed at least two trees on Daniel Island last week. The inclement weather rolled in on the evening of August 9, prompting a large tree to fall on a house near the intersection of Blakeway and Schooner Streets. Crews were spotted clearing the site on Monday. According to Jane Baker of the Daniel Island Property Owners Association, a pine tree also came down at Daniel Island Drive and Fairchild Street.
The forecast from the National Weather Service in Charleston is calling for a chance of thunderstorms almost every day for the next 10 days, with highs in the 90s and lows in the 70s.
