Two new City of Charleston fire trucks put into service

Two new City of Charleston fire trucks, Tender 101 and Brush 101, were put into service on the 13th of this month. They will serve the Daniel Island Region and will be available for other surrounding departments to use if needed. Chief Jeff Harrison explained that the Tender 101 is a piece of apparatus that will respond to all structure fires and also carries 2100 gallons of water to rural areas without hydrants. It also could be a part of a tender task force that covers Daniel Island, Charleston County, and Berkeley County. It will be staffed with two personnel, 24 hours a day at Station 20, which is located off of Pinefield Drive near the Daniel Island Marina. The Chief also noted that Brush 101 is a piece of apparatus that will be used to fight forest fires. The City of Charleston is in the process of putting together a wild land firefighting team that will be able to deploy to assist in wild land fires. It will be staffed 24 hours a day and will also be stationed at Station 20.
