When's it going to open? October 22, 2015

I Love Juice Bar is opening on Daniel Island in early 2016. The national chain, operating as part of the Fresh Capital Group (which also partners locally with Nick’s Bar-B-Q and Taziki’s Mediterranean Café) will offer fresh juice cleanses, smoothies, and vegetarian fare. The store will be located at 245 Seven Farms Drive, Suite 110, the space formerly occupied by Fired Urth and Et Cetera. The transaction was brokered by Mark Erickson, vice president with Cushman & Wakefield Thalhimer. Tommy Traynham, who works in Operational Development for Fresh Capital Group and is overseeing the project, shares that the daily juice cleanses offer a great way to start a diet or detox the body, and that the Juice Bar will customize each cleanse with juice and supplements to customer tastes and needs. The shop will also offer shots of juices with essential oils, and vegetarian foods such as sandwiches, spring rolls, and soup. The space itself will undergo an extensive renovation, with the addition of a grab-n-go counter and outdoor seating. I Love Juice Bar plans to support the community by using local suppliers and having a presence at area farmers markets and festivals. (Watch for the bright green Jeep Wrangler!) The company currently operates 35 locations across the country; this will be the second in South Carolina. Follow progress on the Daniel Island location at www.ilovejuicebar.com or the “Juice Bar Daniel Island” Facebook page.

Refuel gas station and “fresh-made convenience” market

Mount Pleasant-based Refuel, Inc. is opening a gas station and market on Island Park Drive across from the Publix shopping center. According to Mark Jordan, company president, Refuel’s fifth Charleston-area store will be the its largest yet, offering a coffee bar, local products, grilling supplies, “always in-stock cheap bagged ice,” a large wine selection, and even prime steaks. Outside, customers will find a carwash, zero ethanol gasoline, and twenty fueling positions, as well as spacious porches with seating, free wifi, and a fireplace. Refuel Daniel Island is expected to open summer 2016.

Ali Baba to expand Daniel Island eatery

Ali Baba Daniel Island continues their renovation of the space next door, formerly Waldrop & Co. Jewelry, at 186B Seven Farms Drive. The 1,437 square foot expansion of the Mediterranean restaurant and deli will allow for additional dining room and kitchen space, including an oven for specialty pizzas. Other menu additions will accompany the interior changes. The new area is expected to open in December, and the current Ali Baba restaurant space will remain open through the entire project.

Tropical Smoothie Café opening just a week away

The new smoothie and sandwich eatery at 186-D Seven Farms Drive will host a “soft opening” on October 29, followed by their grand opening November 16-21. Tropical Smoothie Café will be open seven days a week for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with hours of operation Monday through Friday 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Sunday 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
