Donate blood to help others live a better life

Did you know that, according to the American Red Cross, every two seconds, someone in the U.S. needs blood?

That’s a lot of need. In fact, about one in seven people who are admitted to the hospital need blood.

Surprisingly, only 10% of the only 37% of the U.S. population that is eligible to give blood actually donates blood. The good news, one pint of blood can save up to three lives.

Our first event to kick off The Daniel Island News’ Live a Better Life 2020 campaign is a blood drive at our office at 225 Seven Farms Drive on Daniel Island. It will be a mobile blood drive with a truck set up in the back parking lot of our building. The drive is scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 30, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

You can go online to www.thebloodconnection.org and click on the “Donate Now” button to schedule an appointment for your donation at The Daniel Island News drive on Jan. 30.

If you can’t make it to that donation drive, the Blood Connection website will give you many additional options for donation time and dates near you. You can also go to www.redcross.org/give-blood.html to find a blood drive near you and to schedule an appointment.

Donating blood is a great way to help other people “live a better life.” Schedule an appointment today.
