Fishing in Brody's shadow
The other day, Brody and I were fishing in Beresford Creek and several boats stopped to say hello. To Brody. It was like I was invisible. As the boats pulled away, I could hear people say, “who is the guy in the boat with Brody.”
Life with a fish-finding and stock-trading dog can be humbling. However, it does have its advantages:
● Standing in Brody’s shadow, I do not need sunscreen.
● Brody always brings snacks on the boat. Who knew doggy treats were so tasty? My favorite is beef. It tastes like chicken.
● As Brody’s “Service Human,” I get to fly for free and Brody only flies first class!
● Brody prefers to eat just the crust of an Orlando’s Pizza. He brings the inside of the pizza home to me in a doggy bag. Perhaps we should rename the bag?
● Brody ordered a new Porsche Macan. Since South Carolina does not issue driver’s licenses to dogs, I get to drive it! I hope Brody does not make me wear a chauffeur’s cap when I drive him around.
● For some odd reason, Brody is always happy to see me. Sometimes, I leave the house and then realize I forgot my keys. When I walk back in, Brody acts like I have been gone for a month.
Being the human for a dog that is better known than you, finds fish more easily than you and gives you a generous monthly allowance is a bit humbling. But to tell the truth, I think I like it!
