Land use and zoning activities on Daniel Island

These are the issues being brought before the various City of Charleston boards and committees that are specific to land use and zoning on Daniel Island. City of Charleston Technical Review Committee (TRC) — The next meeting is scheduled for Jan. 17. The agenda has not been published.

City of Charleston Board of Zoning Appeals – Site Design (BZA-SD) — The next meeting will be held on Feb. 6 with no issues of impact to Daniel Island on the agenda.

City of Charleston Board of Zoning Appeals – Zoning (BZA-Z) — The next meeting is slated for Jan. 15. Among the items to discuss is a request for a variance (after-the-fact) from the Daniel Island Master Plan to allow a section of a garage (outdoor living area) to encroach within the required 10-foot setback from the Visual Buffer Zone at 638 Bermuda Isle Drive.

City of Charleston Design Review Board (DRB) — At the next meeting on Jan. 22, the request for conceptual approval for the construction of a new mix-use building with commercial and residential above at River Landing Village will be discussed.

City of Charleston Planning Commission (PC) — The next meeting will take place on Jan. 16. Among the items on the agenda is a request to rezone a 146.61 acre parcel on Clements Ferry Rd. from Light Industrial (LI) to General Business (GB) and Diverse Residential (DR-1). The owner of the parcel is listed as McAlister Togant Clements LLC et al.
